Red Bull Time Laps 2019 - Enter Now!
Dirty Wknd CC will once again be descending on Red Bull Time Laps on the 26th-27th of October 2019, and we will also be subsidising member teams. Read on below for how to enter.
What is there to be said about Red Bull Timelaps, or more specifically, the Dirty Wknd effect at Red Bull Timelaps? In year one we had 1 team of 4. Fast forward to October 2018, and our team number had multiplied to 5, with the black and white boys and girls arguably taking over the event. We had 2 men's teams, 2 women's teams and 1 mixed team, and all 5 did incredibly well. You can read all about it here (and watch the video below).
Not only did we have 5 teams in the event, we also turned our 'riders enclosure' into a veritable party village. Teams came over to our tent to hang out and stay warm during the 25 hours, helping turn a tough night shift into a celebration of the London cycling community. It really is the camaraderie between the riders and teams that make this event what it is, and we can't wait to do it all over again at Red Bull Timelaps 2019. 1 team in 2017. 5 teams in 2018. Can anyone say 10 teams in 2019??? Full details on what, where, who and how below...
What is Red Bull Timelaps:
Red Bull Time Laps is a truly unique event! A 25 hour circuit race, around beautiful Windsor Great Park, where teams of 4 battle it out from 12pm to 12pm, taking it in turns on course throughout the night. But where does the 'extra hour' come from? Well, the race takes place on the 26th - 27th October, when the clocks go back at 1am, allowing a whole extra hour of racing (the 'power hour'). You lucky things you ;)
Dirty Wknd CC will again be turning out in force for the 2019 Red Bull Timelaps. We will again be entering multiple mens, women's and mixed teams into the event this year, and we want YOU to join us. Please see entry details below:
How To Enter:
Dirty Wknd club members can enter as teams of 4 - either women's, mens or mixed teams. In order to count as a mixed team, you must have 1 member of the opposite gender (i.e 3 women, 1 man), but a 50/50 split is best (in our opinion). Once you have your complete team, the captain needs to enter the event here. You'll need a team name and some details about your riders (name, DOB, next of kin) so set up a whats app group early doors to sort that all out.
Dirty Wknd HQ will be subsidising member teams to the tune of £40, passing on a discount given to us by Red Bull. In order to access this you need to register and pay for your team with some sort of Dirty Wknd themed name (think 'Dirty Wknd Amazons' or something like that). This is so you can claim the discount, and so Red Bull know you're from the club and can station you next to the other teams in the rider village. Once you're entered and paid up, forward the confirmation to hello@dirtywknd.com and we'll sort out the discount for you.
Don't have a team but still want to ride? If you are a single rider, or a pair/three looking for another teammate then you can Email Us and we will put you in touch with other members who are also looking for a team or teammate. Once you have your set team you can then enter the event on the link above.
If you've got any questions about entering a team then drop us an email (above) and we'll talk you through it.
Who Can Enter:
Absolutely anyone! Please do not be put off by the 'race' title or the somewhat serious marketing campaign - this is a brilliant event for any level of rider looking for a tough challenge, regardless of how 'fast' you are. We had a huge range of abilities last year, from super fast racers, to yellow and blue club riders. Make no mistake, it's a tough challenge, but if you're up for it, it's a brilliant one too Believe us the fantastic team aspect will carry you through the night. If you're keen to enter but a bit worried about your level then please Email Us for a chat :)
So if you're looking for an autumn challenge, Red Bull Time Laps might be just the late season event you're looking for. Taking part with other members of the club is also the best way to enjoy the event. Trust us, at 3am you need some friendly faces to help!
How Does Red Bull Timelaps Work?
The race starts at 12pm on Saturday 26th October in Windsor Great Park. Teams of 4 enter the event, with one rider on course at all times, until 12pm the next day. The winning team is the one who completes the most number of laps in the 25 hours. The '25th hour' comes at 1am, when the clocks go back an hour. This is called the 'Power Hour', and during this time all laps count for double. However, we're not at all fussed about 'winning' the event - we're here to have a good time, set ourselves a tough challenge and, with the help of our awesome team mates, come through the other side smiling having made some great memories!
Teams must work out a strategy of who is on course when, a sleep rotation etc. Tactics are very important and can make or break your race. We will of course help out with tactics and organisation of teams, giving you the best chance to enjoy the event. We will also have multiple teams stationed next to each other in the riders area, so the atmosphere and camaraderie will help to keep spirits high throughout the night.
So if you're ready to enter your team into the event go ahead here. Once you've done that
If you have any questions about the event then please Email Us for a chat.
