Take On Famous TDF Climbs In The Pyrenees!
The 'Raid Pyrenean' is a classic European cycling route that all cyclists should take on at least once. Take on the best Cols in the area in one guided point to point route that sees you ride coast to coast in the south of France. 700km and 1200 metres of climbing across 7 days is a huge challenge, but one of the most beautiful bike rides in the world!
Bike Basque are the experts in Basque country cycling and our tour partner for trips in the area. As such Dirty Wknd club members get 5% off the trip. With professional and knowledgable ride guides (roughly 1 guide per 4 riders), support vehicles with baggage transfer AND all meals included, this is the best deal for a Pyrenees Raid trip out there.
Starting in Biarritz you'll be guided by the Bike Basque team across some of the most famous mountains in the world, including the Cols du Tourmalet, Aubisque and Peyresourde. The full route is just under 700km and 12,000 metres of climbing, so each day will be between 80 and 110km. Whilst this may sound extremely tough, you will be given all the tools & time to complete each day.
After each days riding you will be staying in bike friendly 3 to 4 star hotels that have been specially selected by the Bike Basque team. This trip is full board, meaning all your meals are included. Every night you will eat in a different French restaurant, so you'll get to experience the beautiful French cuisine and hospitality that the Basque region is famous for.
This trip is open to all, and Dirty Wknd club members get 5% off the total price. Please sign up on the link above (you won't be charges) and we will send you more information and how to pay. If you have any questions please Email Us.
Trip Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival in Biarritz
Meet the Bike Basque team and go over itinerary. Dinner & night in Hotel Kemaris (3 star) in Biarritz
Day 2: Biarritz to Barcus – 129 km (3 medium climbs)
Get the legs rolling on a medium stage. Night in Hotel Chez Chillo (3 star)
Day 3: Barcus to Argeles Gazost – 105 km (Col d'Aubisque)
The first proper test - the famous Aubisque! Take on a classic Tour climb on day 2, with a night in Hotel Les Rochers (3 star)
Day 4: Argeles Gazost to Arreau – 93 km (Col du Tourmalet)
The Tourmalet is one of the most famous climbs in the world, and the scene of many epic Tour de France battles. Take on the famous Col on this shorter day, followed by a night in Hotel Angleterre (3 star)
Day 5: Arreau to Saint-Girons – 135 km (Peyresourde)
The longest day of the trip includes taking on the Peyresourde. Not as long or as hard as the previous days climbing, but as famous and as iconic. Night's stay in Hotel Eychenne***
Day 6: Saint-Girons to Ax-les-Thermes – 100 km (Col de Port)
A shorter stage with slightly less 'famous' climbs, but a stunning day none the less. The view from the top of the Col de Port is worth the trip alone! Staying in Hotel: Le Chalet (3 star)
Day 7: Ax-les-Thermes to Perpignan – 130 km (Port de Pailhéres)
The final test of the trip starts right away - literally riding straight up hill! However the view, landscape and descent into Perpignan make it all worth while, especially the final celebratory dinner and stay at Hotel: Villa Duflot (4 star)
Day 8: Breakfast and depart to Perpignan airport
